Golf Tournament History 

The Jared Tuccolo Memorial Golf Tournament was initially started by Barbara Beaudoin, a friend of the Tuccolo family, on Oct 23, 1999.  The first event was held at the Atkinson Country Club in Atkinson, NH with TASC members participating as volunteers and acting as a primary sponsor.  Originally, the tournament’s purpose was to gather friends and family members of Jared to support his fight for life.  Tragically, only a few days after the tournament, Jared succumbed to his brain cancer on Oct 27, 1999.  Please visit Jared Tuccolo’s Memorial web page at:

In October 2000, “Take a Swing at Cancer”, an all volunteer organization, joined the effort with the planning and sponsorship of the Jared Tuccolo Memorial Golf Tournament.  The goal was to keep the event’s history ongoing and keep Jared’s memory alive while using the event as a vehicle to help other unfortunate victims of cancer.  The second tournament was also held at the Atkinson Country Club.  It was around this time that the Tuccolo Memorial Scholarship Fund was established to benefit students from Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School in Haverhill, Jared’s Alma Mater.

During the following year, TASC and the Tuccolo family decided to postpone the tournament until the spring of 2002.  It was thought that we could get better participation and weather if we held the event in the late spring or early summer, as opposed to the early fall. So, in June of 2002 and 2003, the third and fourth golf tournaments were held with great success at Far Corner Golf Club in West Boxford, MA. TASC was now the official organizer and proud sponsor of what had become an annual event!

In 2004, the tournament was moved to the Sheraton Colonial Hotel and Golf Club in Wakefield, Massachusetts, where it was held for four years.  This year, the tournament will be held at the Windham Country Club in Windham, NH.  We continue to experience tremendous growth each year. Support for this wonderful event continues to amaze and inspire everyone involved.
